Home Solicitors LLP was closed on 7th March 2011.

This was as a result of an excessively high professional indemnity insurance premium.

All firms of Solicitors require professional indemnity insurance to protect themselves and their clients in the event of potential claims for negligence.  Many insurance companies have pulled out of the market recently and are now refusing to insure Solicitors as they view them as high risk, especially in respect of firms that specialise in conveyancing (due to the high value of the property transactions that they undertake).

As a result of so many insurance companies refusing to insure Solicitors, the few insurance companies that are willing to insure them are in a very strong position and have been given a free reign to quote whatever they like.  This resulted in our premium quadrupling despite us having an impeccable claims history (we have not had a single claim against us).  This has made it financially impossible for us to continue practicing under the Solicitors Regulation Authority, hence the change of structure to the 'Council of Licensed Conveyancers'.

Under this new regime and our new entity trading as Conveyancing Expert Ltd we will still maintain two million pounds worth of professional indemnity insurance cover to protect our clients. 

We feel disappointed that we have had to take this course of action as it has been disruptive to us as a business.  However, we have ensured that this disruption does not in any way affect current clients or any future clients.

Conveyancing Expert Ltd will be managed by the same Partners/Solicitors as Home Solicitors and it merely means that they are given the additional title of 'Licensed Conveyancers'.  We will still be offering the same reasonable legal fees and our registered address will go unchanged.

The Council of Licensed Conveyancers sources professional indemnity insurance on behalf of its members and ensures fair premiums for all. This means that our premium is substantially reduced, but still provides the best cover for clients.
